Becoming More Disciplined in Your Business
Let's face it, running a business can be super time consuming, am I right? You start working on 1 task that you think will take like 5 minutes to complete and then when you look up it's 2 hours later! This can be due to a lack of discipline.
I get it, you've got your clients to worry about, a full-time job, family, children, and other responsibilities to take care of every day so whenever you get a chance to complete tasks in your actual business, you use up all of the free time you have working on 1-2 things, leaving the other 3, 4, 5 or 6 things in your business floating in the wind. That is due to a lack of discipline.
To build the discipline to properly run a business, CEOs need some type of routine or schedule that they follow so that day-in and day-out they're using their time wisely.
Here's a list of ways to keep yourself disciplined, on purpose, in your business so that you can be fully present and aware of everything that goes on:
USE YOUR CALENDAR. This is the most crucial part of being a business owner. Don't schedule appointments by word of mouth and not put them on your calendar and don't schedule appointments just because, without having working hours or business hours that you can attend these meetings between. Your calendar is how you set your boundaries, with yourself and with your clients or leads, use it wisely.
Make daily to-do lists. Taking things day-by-day helps you to accomplish larger goals that you have for yourself and your business, without the pressure of getting everything done all at once right then and there. Remember, cramming all of your tasks to complete in one day will only make you more prone to high-stress levels and anxiety.
Set up automations whenever possible so that you don't have to manually do everything in your business. Setting up things like auto-response on your email or using an appointment scheduling account will save you tons of time from back and forth with clients and leads just to book an appointment or just to reply to an email.
LEAN ON YOUR TEAM. This one is just as important as step 1. If you have a team, let some of that control go and allow your team members to carry you and your business to success. No need to micromanage what they're doing to make yourself more at ease, they most often will carry out your tasks faithfully and respectfully each and every time, you've just got to trust that they will....and they will!
The more disciplined you are in the above 4 steps, the easier it will be to run your business like clockwork. The hardest thing is getting started but once you finally do and you find your rhythm, you'll be glad you took that leap. Think about it.
